We offer a comprehensive online 'brokerage' service for people who want to volunteer. You can:
- search for opportunities on national the Do-it database
- view and apply for our latest opportunities on i-volunteer
- check our Facebook page for volunteering events & opportunities
- catch up with volunteering news and opportunities in Brighton & Hove by following us on Twitter
You may wish to register with i-Volunteer and create your own volunteer profile, allowing organisations to find and contact you directly about opportunities that match your requirements. We aim to respond to all volunteering enquiries within 10 working days.

Our team offer confidential telephone support for people who;
- would like some guidance in how to use the online service
- have any questions or anxieties about volunteering with which they would like support
- are having difficulty in deciding what to do
- want to discuss any other volunteering related issues

Would you like to volunteer in Advice Services?
Providing quality advice and information services is one of the city’s priorities in its Sustainable Community Strategy. Lots of people need the service and there are great opportunities to help.

LGBT volunteering

Microvolunteering
'Actions that benefit a worthy cause, where the main bulk of the task can be completed on demand in one or more sessions of up to 30 minutes, either from a person's home or on the go'. These type of actions involve little or no commitment and are easy to participate in.
Here are a few examples of micro-volunteering:
- cross stitch squares for quilts for very ill British children
- donate free water to the poor by playing a pc based game
- knit dog coats to sell, that fund dog rescue centres
- write a letter to a very sick child and make them smile
- feed the hungry for free by playing an online quiz

IT 4 Communities helps find skilled IT people to give advice and help with IT needs for charities, community groups and other not-for-profits/some social enterprises.
Volunteering opportunities for political interns
The Volunteer Centre Brighton & Hove does not normally hold details for volunteering opportunities within party political organisations. However, if you are interested in this area of volunteering and/or internships you may find the w4mp Interns' Network useful; it is designed for anyone who is working for an MP.
