Office Phone Support Volunteer (NCS)

Role Description

The role
Keeping in contact with our scheme members is very important in ensuring that we provide a good service. Moreover, a friendly telephone call can make a big difference to someone who spends most of their time alone.
Office phone support volunteers work with the Volunteer Coordinators to:
• Contact Scheme members who do not have a regular visiting volunteer;
• Help with annual reviews of scheme members who have a visiting volunteer;
• Assist the Volunteer Coordinators in monitoring the Scheme

Skills and personal qualities
• Reliable
• Trustworthy
• Good telephone manner
• Personable and able to relate well to older or physically disabled people
• Sensitive to people’s needs and feelings
• Courteous and non-patronising in their volunteer work
• Able to act in accordance with the Impetus Equal Opportunities Policy
• Ability to use computers (particularly our CharityLog database – training will be provided)

Recruitment method
Interview, two references and a DBS check.

Volunteer’s time commitment
Time flexible but during normal office hours Monday – Thursday 10am – 4pm. We would like people to commit to a minimum of six months

Other information
Expenses: Yes – out of pocket travel expenses will be reimbursed

Induction: Yes – full induction with Volunteer Coordinator

Training: There is an ongoing programme of optional training and the opportunity to practice and improve your office skills
