Billy & Jude’s Volunteering

Bea, Billy and Jude NCS

They are a joy to this old woman. I hope they know how I love their visits.

We were really pleased last month to receive an email from 93-year-old Bea:

“Yesterday I again met up with Jude and Billy. What amazing lads! They are a joy to this old woman. [ … ] I hope they know how I love their visits. My tales of the past and their knowledge of technology somehow makes for great conversation. So ‘thank you’ to NCS for these two great lads who lighten up my life. When they walk in they bring joy in with them.”

Billy and Jude are volunteering with the Neighbourhood Care Scheme as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Award. Here’s what they have to say:

“When I first started I was nervous I might get bored or not get along with the person I would visit. However, it’s been great. Bea’s always welcoming, kind and honest, which as she said makes for great conversation.”

- Billy, NCS Volunteer

“Bea is really easy to get on with. And it’s been interesting learning about life when she was young. We often end up leaving late as we forget the time. I really enjoy the visits.”

- Jude, NCS Volunteer

Thank you Billy and Jude for choosing to volunteer with NCS as part of your Duke of Edinburgh Award, we can tell that your visits make a big difference to Bea’s life.

Could you be a volunteer like Billy and Jude?
