Macmillan-Impetus Cancer Advocacy

Cancer Advocacy is a new service providing independent advocacy to adults with learning disabilities, mental health problems, autism, and older people who are affected by cancer.

How does Cancer Advocacy work?

  • Independent advocacy provides people affected by cancer with support to ask for what they want, feel in control and access services and advice
  • Our advocates can support people at meetings and ensure that healthcare professionals, social services, benefits and other agencies understand and respect their wishes
  • We aim to support people affected by cancer to make informed choices and decisions about treatment and care. We can help find out whatever they need to know from information on cancer through to what practical help is available locally
