Welcome to ASpire

We support adults (18+ years) with Asperger syndrome, high-functioning autism and similar social issues through group activities.

Our ethos is to make a difference to the lives of people living with Asperger syndrome in a respectful and empowering way, building self-awareness, confidence and self-efficacy.

3 reasons to choose ASpire

  1. Increase your confidence

90% of people who come to the social group say that their confidence has increased.

  2. Improve wellbeing & self-awareness

95% of people feel their social skills have improved and feel less socially isolated from attending the group.

  3. Have fun & make friends

90% of people gave the group a score of 9 or above out of 10.

“The best thing about the group is getting to socialise and get out of the house more.”

Social groups

Our social groups provide an autism friendly environment for you to meet others, make friends, and just have a good time! Currently our groups are every two weeks on a Thursday evening, and the schedule of events is set by the group members themselves. There is no fee to attend the group itself, but some activities such as bowling or cinema trips do require members to pay their own costs.

How do I get involved?

New joiners can usually attend a social group very quickly, usually in just a couple of weeks. If you’d like to come along contact us on our get support page and we’ll arrange a short assessment meeting. You are welcome to bring someone to support you at this meeting, and to the first social group too.

Other activities

We are currently developing our extended activities for the coming year, including day trips and social and discussion groups that will happen during the day. If you would like to be involved in these, or have ideas for what other activities we could offer, we’d love to hear from you! Please contact us on 01273 725994 or our get support page.

Could you volunteer?

Our volunteers are as varied as the people they work with, and many knew little about Asperger’s and autism before they started working with us. The most important qualities for our volunteers are patience, compassion, and dedication. We’ll add knowledge to that through our in-depth training in Asperger’s and autism, as well as giving you opportunities to shadow existing social group leaders to gain confidence in leading activities, and follow this up with group and individual supervision sessions throughout your time with us. Volunteers are vital to our service and the people we help, we strive to ensure volunteering with us will be a rewarding experience for you.
