Strategic Development Worker
Grade SO1 Spinal Column Point 29-31, £24,646 - £26,276 pro rata (cost of living increase pending) + up to 3% employer’s contribution to pension
14 hrs per week - Post funded until end of March 2011
Volunteering runs through every strand of our society with volunteers contributing an estimated 57,600 hours of their time within Brighton & Hove each week. By expanding Volunteer Centre support to the delivery of the City Volunteering Strategy, this post aims to encourage growth in our local volunteering environment, enabling it to flourish.
The primary objective of this role is to build understanding and knowledge of the benefits of volunteering (in particular to those at risk of social exclusion) among key City decision-makers and decision-making bodies with the view to volunteering being represented and resourced within key city work programmes.
This role is a real opportunity to champion volunteering, influence those who might resource its development and ensure that the benefits of volunteering are accessible to all in our City. It requires someone with a passion for and understanding of the sector who is confident of their abilities in communicating with a wide range of people, including commissioners and senior managers.
