We use QuickBooks and have an annual turnover of approximately £400,000.
B&H Impetus is a modern local charity operating in the area of the City of Brighton & Hove. We are a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee.
There are two sides to our activities. We are an infrastructure organisation that provides support to the local voluntary sector through running the City Volunteer Centre and the Performance Development Service. We also manage a number of projects that improve the quality of life of disadvantaged people. For further information about our activity, including previous annual reports, view our website. A set of management accounts will be available to anyone interested in applying to deliver this service.
Our staff are highly motivated and we are an Investor In People. We value professionalism and are a values led organisation.

We have a number of projects which are managed by Project Leaders who have bottom line responsibility for their budgets and direct access to the Finance Manager for invoicing, support with budgeting and financial information.
We operate a full cost recovery system and have a planning cycle with new year budgets being set and agreed by the Board in the final quarter of the financial year. Annual audited returns to the Charity Commission are up to date. Currently about 65% of our funding comes from statutory sources. We also have another member of staff who writes cheques and invoices and inputs data into QuickBooks under the supervision of the Finance Manager.
One of our trustees is an experienced auditor and regularly spot checks internal systems and compliance with financial controls. He is the lead trustee on financial reporting.

We are looking for a someone with substantial experience of computerised bookkeeping. Experience of working within the voluntary sector, and a full understanding of the Charity Commission SORP, and the financial and legal requirements for registered charities would be an advantage but is by no means essential.

The Brighton and Hove Local Involvement Network (LINk) are looking for members of the community (who must be Brighton and Hove residents) to become Authorised LINk Enter & View Representatives. This means that you will be able to enter publicly funded health and social care premises, such as hospitals, GP surgeries, dental surgeries, opticians and adult care homes.
The aim of these visits is to view the care provided, and report on the findings to the service providers and commissioners of services.
The Enter and View programme is an important part of the LINk activity and the LINk has powers under the “Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007” which enables them to carry out this role.
We are looking for people who have an interest in making a difference for their local community. You will need to interact with service users and providers. You will take note of what is happening in places where problems have been reported, or where examples of interesting or good practice are happening.
