Casserole Club: connecting neighbours over delicious home-cooked food

Volunteers share extra portions of home-cooked food with people in their area who aren’t always able to cook for themselves. The Cooks share food once a week, once a month, or whenever works best for them.

GoodGym runners want a reason to go running. As part of their runs, they make friendly, weekly visits to older people (60+) who feel isolated or lonely and that would benefit from an extra visitor.
The Washing Up – special performance for Impetus volunteers
Posted on 19th March 2018 by Toni SlaterA special ‘dress rehearsal’ performance of The Washing Up will be presented for Impetus supporters and volunteers, the Hangleton Community Centre, 14 May, 2-3pm. There will be an opportunity to share your own washing up stories and final performances will be part of Your Place during the Brighton Festival.
Impetus supporters: Feet on and off the ground!
Posted on 19th March 2018 by Toni SlaterMassive thanks and congratulations to our three The Grand Brighton Half Marathon 2018 runners; Chloe Thomas, Neil Ponsford and Sam Baars. They braved the freezing temperatures amongst 8,000 other runners, keeping their feet firmly on the ground, on Sunday 25 February.
They all smashed their fundraising targets; Neil raising £380 and Chloe and Sam raising a spookily similar amount – £325.50 and £325 respectively.
Brighton’s Biggest Roast, Brighton Youth Centre, 8 April: 1-3pm
Posted on 19th March 2018 by Toni SlaterThis event is being hosted by Impetus, Brighton Sunday Roast Club and Brighton Casserole Club, in collaboration with Russell Tisbury of The Ladies Mile pub. It is sponsored by First Base, the property consortium.
Those in need of a hot meal and some company in the Queen’s Park/Edward Street, BN2 area are invited, including our Neighbourhood Scheme members and those looking to become a Brighton Casserole Club chef. A choice of chicken, beef or vegetarian roast dinner will be offered.

Data Protection: GDPR and what it means
Posted on 19th March 2018 by Toni SlaterYou may have heard about the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), coming into force on 25 May this year. It replaces the Data Protection Act (DPA, 1998) and means that control and ownership of data will be given back to you.
The principles of GDPR are what we and other similar organisations already strive to adhere to; however, from 25 May it will be enforced with much more severe penalties for breaches of personal data (i.e. collecting and sharing anything that could be used to identify you, such as your name or email address).
Befriending Links: LGBT & BAME community services

This is part of our first year’s engagement work with Befriending Links, funded by the Council’s Third Sector Investment Programme (TSIP).
Neighbourhood Care Scheme 20th Anniversary

Volunteers needed to help improve wellbeing in Brighton and Hove

The volunteer Community Navigators help people improve wellbeing and reduce isolation by connecting them with services and activities in their local community.
