Fundraising Comedy Night a Big Hit!Posted on 16th February 2016 by Jo Ivens
Tuesday 9th February was a special day for us — we were the chosen charity of the last ever Charity Chuckle comedy night at the Komedia, with a packed line up hosted by NCS volunteer and top comic Zoe Lyons.
The event sold out days in advance, the room was packed and the laughs came thick and fast from the line up of Harriet Kemsley, James Ellis, David James, Yuriko Kotani, Bobby Mair, and local boy Seann Walsh.
This was really exciting for us as we are a small local charity, and these kind of events are a real boost to our fundraising and awareness-raising work. It’s important to us to be able to tell the story of what we do, and to reach more people.
The Charity Chuckle has been a big part of both the city’s charity and comedy scene since 2009, entertaining many a crowd on a Tuesday night at the Komedia and raising £20,000 for the community. We were delighted to be the last ever Charity Chuckle, and the fact that it was hosted by Zoe, who knows about what we do first hand, was very special for us. Thanks to all those who came along, donated prizes for the raffle and auction, to the comics and to the Charity Chuckle organisers themselves.
