Ruth’s Personal BestPosted on 24th February 2009 by Impetus
Sunday was the day of the Sussex Beacon Half Marathon and Ruth Carter was running on behalf of the Neighbourhood Care Scheme.
Ruth succesfully completed the course in a personal best time and hopes to have raised around £250 for the Neighbourhood Care Scheme.
It was a valiant effort in front of a large and enthusiastic crowd – well done Ruth, it is a brilliant achievement and a great fundraising effort!
The money that Ruth has raised for the Neighbourhood Care Scheme will be much valued, and well used.

Here is Ruth’s own account of the day :
‘What a great day! This year was the 19th Sussex Beacon Half Marathon, but my first, so I was feeling pretty nervous as I stood in the crowd of runners waiting to start, with my stomach churning. The event was much larger than the previous half marathon I had run and the crowds of people clapping and cheering really made a difference to the atmosphere, which felt bristling.
Charity run for the Neighbourhood Care SchemePosted on 9th February 2009 by Impetus
The 2009 Sussex Beacon Half Marathon is taking place on Sunday 22nd February in Brighton. In 2008 the event attracted nearly 5,000 runners and raised £120,000 for local charities.
Ruth Carter, who is one of the Neighbourhood Care Scheme’s Volunteer Co-ordinators, will be running in aid of the Neighbourhood Care Scheme. Any money raised will be used to support older people and people with physical disabilities in Brighton, Hove and Portslade.
If you wish to sponsor Ruth please email Susan Alderson, the NCS Administrator, at email@example.com.
The run starts at 9.45am on Madeira Drive for those who want to come along and cheer.
Good luck, Ruth!
