Volunteering as a trustee at impetus is an extraordinary and amazing adventure! Who would have thought I would be training to use blogging to communicate. And social networking is a whole new world that will enable me to carry out the duties of a trustee in very creative and efficient ways. Well, I hope the Chair agrees.

Had a very cultured Saturday evening thanks to Janine Howlett – the marketing manager of The London Philharmonic Orchestra. If you were not aware Janine sent a special discount offer out to (ASpire) staff and volunteers to listen to the LPO perform Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto 2 and Tchaikovsky Suite 3 at The Brighton Dome this weekend.

Hello, I am Naomi, one of the Volunteer Co-ordinators for the Neighbourhood Care Scheme (NCS) and have been with the scheme since April 2005. NCS is a good neighbour scheme which supports older people, carers (in Hangleton and Queens Park) , and people with physical or sensory disabilities in their own homes by providing volunteer support.

Hi there, my name is Andrew. I thought I would write a quick post about who I am and what I do for the Impetus blog and introduce myself to those who don’t yet know me. I have been a volunteer mentor for the ASpire project befriending and assisting adults with Asperger Syndrome for the last year or so.

Filming took place this morning. Gareth Evans will be the presenter. Several volunteers took part in the filming including a volunteer from St John’s Day Centre so thanks to them and Kim. The final part was filmed at St John’s which is an older people’s project. So vote for us on the 27th. You can vote between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. Calls from landlines cost 10p. You can make up to 10 calls from one number. The number will be available from our website on the day or from the Meridian News programme which goes out 6 p.m. More details are available on the Big Lottery Fund website.
